here i am on a sunday afternoon figuring out how to use yet another site which the world will have access to my opinions, photos, and life. Most students here at Boston College (where I currently attend) spend their Sundays waking up in the afternoon, laying around in attempts to recover from the previous night, and then around 9pm begin their homework. It's ironic as I think about it now, college is suposed to be a journey about self discovery but it just seems like everyone here conforms to the "typical BC student" so they are not alienated and without friends. I would have to agree with the sociologist Cooley's statement that we develop an identity based on how others perceive us, and this "looking glass self" as Cooley coined is really a fake version of who we are as humans endeavor to hide their imperfections so they are liked.
Enough of my serious pondering...Anyways has anyone heard of the band Rush? Well, they were a great rock band from the 70's, and they have this song called Subdivisions which kind of ignited my desire to write my first blog entry. And it fits with this whole topic of if you don't conform you get "cast out" so why not include it?
